About the Role

As a Planner, you will support both tender and onsite delivery teams by producing logic‑linked programmes, identifying and communicating risk, and ensuring planning information is accessible and meaningful for all project stakeholders.

You will work closely with the Senior Planner / Planning Manager during tender stage and support the Construction Manager throughout delivery — helping teams make confident, data‑driven decisions that keep projects on track.

Tender Stage

Develop fully logic‑linked design, procurement and construction tender programmes.

Produce or support the production of tender logistics plans, method statements and temporary works (including scaffold) schedules.

Engage with the supply chain and project teams to refine programme assumptions and identify optimal delivery methods.

Produce all tender deliverables on time in line with the Tender Activity Programme (TAP).

Create or lead the production of logistics and phasing plans.

Identify programme risks and add them to the risk register with clear communication.

Attend tender meetings, including settlement where required.

Construction Stage

Assist project managers with onsite planning, reporting and programme controls.

Develop target and master programmes for small to medium projects, fully logic‑linked to the baseline.

Ensure programmes reflect agreed construction methods in collaboration with operations support teams.

Where no site planner is present, train project managers to progress programmes and provide periodic rescheduling support.

Qualifications

HNC (or equivalent) in Building Studies or related discipline.

CSCS Construction Planner certification.

Technical Skills

Strong proficiency with PrimaveraP6 or Asta PowerProject (essential).

Robust experience in programme management, project controls, cost/risk analysis and programme review.

Good understanding of the commercial drivers that impact programme baselines.

Experience working on multi‑discipline construction projects.

Ideally, experience in commercial or education sector projects (refurbishment or new build).

Experience working on constrained city‑centre sites is beneficial.

Attributes

Strong analytical, numerical and problem‑solving skills.

Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet demanding deadlines.

Clear communicator able to explain planning concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Organised, self‑motivated and able to work independently or as part of a site‑based team.

A collaborative and respectful approach to teamworking.

Commitment to maintaining high planning standards and supporting continuous improvement.
